International Yoga Day 2022
The 8th International Day of Yoga 2022 (IDY) was celebrated at MSCB University on 21st of June 2022. The central theme for the 8th IDY was “YOGA FOR HUMANITY” (Yoga for Peace & Harmony). The event was spearheaded by the Department of Yoga & Naturopathy along with all other departments of University. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kishor Kumar Basa was the Chief guest and P.G Council Chairman Prof. Pramod Kumar Satapathy presided over the event. The event started with paying great reverence to Lord Surya and performing Surya Namaskar early in morning with staffs and students. Then the practice of Common Yoga Protocol followed lighting of lamp. In his address, Prof. Basa highlighted the importance of mental health along with physical health in the academia. He thus proposed Yoga as a primary means to achieve all-round development of the students. Prof. Satapathy elabrated “Yoga for Humanity” as the central theme and suggested students to practice Yoga everyday by making it a lifestyle to achieve absolute Health, Happiness and Harmony. The program was a huge success and ended with singing of National Anthem. A team from NSS, Baripada conducted various Yoga competitions like Quiz, Debate, Drawing etc. They also performed many Yogic pyramid formation with an advance asanas exhibition. Students, staff, faculty members, and many dignitaries from and outside the University joined the event.
National Workshop Organised by Department of Computer Science
A National Level Workshop on “Python Programming” was organized by the
Department of Computer Science, MSCBU during 20-26 June 2022. The function was
inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof Kishor Kumar Basa. He
emphasized the increasing
importance of building and test Machine Learning models in python codes along
with its prowess in data visualization and analytics. The inaugural session
started with the welcome note of the Convener, Dr. Janmenjoy Nayak highlighting
the brief history and motivation behind the developmental aspects of Python
programming. Prof. P.K.Satapathy, the Chairman, PG Council, has addressed the
importance of Python language at all level. The invited resource person Ms. Urvashi
Nag from CSIR Lab, Chandigarh has opined about the real life applicability and
usage level of Python at different level of science and engineering. Dr.
Sharmila Subudhi, the co-convener has tendered the vote of thanks. Dr. S.S.Basa
and Dr. P.S.Mishra were the organizing chairs for the event. The
weeklong workshop attracted more than 150 participants across 8 different
States of India. The objective of this programme is to train the aspirants to
analyse large scale data using Python programming through hands-on training.

Field Trip Organised by Department of Geology
To provide hands-on experience in research, Department of Geology, MSCBU, 2nd Campus, Keonjhar, arranged a two-day field trip of 1st Year PG students to ‘Raisuan-Dhrupada-Ranki-Naranpur’ regions of Keonjhar during 12th & 13th April 2022 and field tour-cum-dissertation work of 2nd Year PG students to Geological Survey of India, Raipur from 27th May to 6th June 2022.
