Seminar on 'Role of Tribal Leaders in Indian Struggle for Independence' @2nd Campus MSCBU

 


A national seminar titled "Role of Tribal Leaders in Indian Freedom Struggle" was held on 29th September, 2022 in the second campus of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Keonjhar and National Commission of Scheduled Tribes as part of the celebration of Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav. National Scheduled Tribes Commission member and former Lok Sabha member Mr. Anant Naik joined as the Chief Guest and in his address gave detailed information about the collective rights of the tribal people and their history. Prof. Rajkishore Hansda, All India Coordinator of "Janajati Suraksha Mancha", attended as the keynote speaker and highlighted the great contribution of Indian tribal leaders in the national freedom movement. Senior Legal Consultant of the commission Mr. Radhakanta Tripathy joined as Guest of Honour and gave a detailed explanation about the laws and rights meant for tribals. University Vice Chancellor Prof. Kishor Kumar Basa presided over the conference and spoke about the self-dependence of the tribals and called upon everyone to respect them. Prof. Babrubahan Mohapatra, Director of the Second campus of the University welcomed the guests at the beginning and in his speech discussed about the purpose of the conference. Assistant Professor of Odia Dr. Shishir Behera moderated the programme and offered the vote of thanks. Students and intellectuals of the tribal community from various colleges attended the conference and participated in the interactive session. On this occasion, a photo exhibition on tribal leaders in Indian freedom struggle was showcased.

All India Mundari Writers' Conference

 

All-India Mundari Writers' Conference was held at the conference hall of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University on 25 September, 2022. It was organized in association with the All-India Mundari Writers' Organization on the occasion of the foundation day of the Organization. The conference was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kishor Kumar Basa who was the Chief Guest of the occasion. In his address Prof. Basa discussed the uniqueness of Mundari language. The conference was organized under the chairmanship of President of the All-India Mundari Writers' Organization Mr. Soma Singh and was coordinated by Secretary of the organization Mr. Birbal Singh. In this conference, Former Vice Chancellor or Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University Ranchi Dr. Satyanarayan Munda  was the Chief Speaker and Mr. Madanmohan Soren, Convenor of Santali Sahitya Academy was the special guest and Secretary of  Odia Bhasha Jagrana Mancha Mr. Sarat Chandra Nayak, Presidents of All-India organization Mr. Nandalal Singh and Ramchandra Singh joined as Guests of Honor. The speakers demanded to open a department of Mundari language in the University. On this occasion, a book titled "HamThu" written by Ms. Mugunimani Singh of Astajharan and "Mundari Bani ra Hastakshara" written by Mr. Budhia Singh of Badasahi were released. The Mundari Writers' Organization has again given the demand letter made in 2013 by Odisha Mundari Samaj Samar Jamda" Organization to Vice Chancellor Prof. Basa to open a Mundari language department in the university. 

In the second phase of the conference, the discussion titled 'Impact of Antiquity in relation to Mundari language and literature in the current situation' was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Subas Munda. Mr. Birbal Singh and Hesel Sahu participated in the discussion moderated by Tanuja Munda. In the third phase, 14 poets recited Mundari poetry under the chairmanship of Mr. Ramachandra Singh and moderated by Er. Sunaram Singh. In the fourth phase, under the chairmanship of Mr. Nandlal Singh and moderated by Mr. Bodh Munda, 6 writers recited their own-written short stories. In the evening, the valedictory ceremony was held under the patronage of OAS Officer Mr. Madan Singh. It was moderated by Retired B.D.O. Mr. Duguru Charan Singh. Mundari movie director Bilkan Prabhudayal Nag, popular artists like Mr. Dashrath Singh, Kahnucharan Singh, Basant Kumar Singh, Satchidananda Singh, Dharmapada Singh and Rajendra Singh were the major contributors in this event. At the end Mangal Singh, President of Odisha Munda Students' Union, offered vote of thanks. At the end of the conference, the "Senage Susun Kazige Durang" team performed Mundari dance and song.


Seminar and Poster exhibition on 'Role of Tribal Leaders in Indian Struggle for Independence'


 


A seminar on Role of Tribal Leaders in Indian Freedom Struggle was organized by the National Commission of Scheduled Tribes at MSCB University on 15th September, 2022. Hon'ble member of the commission Mr. Ananta Nayak was the Chief Guest of the event. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nayak hailed this event as part of Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav and spoke about the roles played by the tribals of India in Indian Freedom Struggle. He also advised tribals to be aware of their rights and move forward to write about their own culture and history. Senior Legal Consultant of the commission Mr. Radhakanta Tripathy discussed about the vairous activities and legal frameworks of the commission and answered various questions from the audience. Chief speaker of the event, president of the Mayurbhanj Santal Bhanjadisham Pargana Mr. Sanatan Murmu narrated with facts about various contributions of tribals of Odisha and India in India's journey towards independence. The seminar was chaired by Chairman PG Council Prof. Pramoda Kumar Satapathy. Registrar Mr. Sahadev Samadhia gave the introductory speech while HoD of Santali Department Dr. Jatindra Nath Beshra offered vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Prof.in Charge of SC/ST Cell Dr. Bhubaneswar Sabar.

The event began by garlanding at the statue of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo by the dignitaries. Before the beginning of the seminar, a documentary film showcasing the Indian Freedom Struggle was presented to the audience. Later a cultural programme by tribal students was held. Later, a photo exhibition showcasing tribal freedom fighters of India was exhibited.

Startup Odisha Yatra 2.0 - Bootcamp @MSCBU


 


A bootcamp of Startup Odisha Yatra 2.0 launched by the Odisha state government, was inaugurated at the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University on 14th October, 2022 by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kishor Kumar Basa in the 200-seated conference hall. Thirteen students of the University presented their projects in this bootcamp of the Startup Odisha Yatra 2.0, which was started by Odisha government's MSME department and Startup Odisha with an aim to bring entrepreneurial awareness among the grassroots youth and promote women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship among the youth. On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Basa in his speech called upon the students not to limit their research to research but to turn it into an enterprise and make themselves and others employable. On this occasion, on behalf of Technology Business Incubator of KIIT University Dr. Amaresh Panda and Asha Mahapatra from Startup Odisha informed the students about the purpose and methodology of Startup Odisha Yatra 2.0 and the role of Startup Odisha Yatra in building successful entrepreneurs and self-reliant individuals. In this bootcamp, five projects were selected by the jury for the next stage. Chairman PG Council Prof. Pramoda Kumar Satapathy presented T-shirts and caps of Startup Odisha to the selected students. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Swarupananda Bissoyi, Assistant Professor of Department of Computer Application. Among others, Mr. Arpan Ghosh of KIIT TBI, Shritha Das of Startup Odisha and IQAC Director of the University Prof. M. Himabindu, Reader Dr. Puspanjali Parida, Associate Professor Dr. Minati Mallick, Dr. Pravanjan Mallik, Asst. Professor Dr. Guninidhi Dhangdamajhi, Dr. Jatindranath Beshra, Dr. Janmenjay Nayak, Dr. Sujay Kundu were present to boost the morale of the participants.

Startup Odisha Yatra 2.0 - Van Campaign @MSCBU

 




The van campaign of the Startup Odisha Yatra 2.0 by Govt. of Odisha has reached Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University. The Yatra aims at scouting grassroots innovators, women entrepreneurs, and promoting entrepreneurship among the youth. Vice Chancellor Prof. Kishor Kumar Basa, Chairman P.G. Council Prof. Pramoda Kumar Satapathy, faculty members and students welcome the startup campaign van. Speaking on this occasion Vice Chancellor Prof. Basa urged everyone to  develop the culture of idea generation in the University and make University an entrepreneurship hub in the north Odisha region. Chairman PG Council Prof. Satapathy welcomed the campaign and expressed the motivation behind this campaign i.e., to provide entrepreneurial exposure to the young minds. At the campaign van, students pitched their ideas. The volunteers of the Startup Odisha Yatra 2.0 discussed with students about various indigenous products that are available locally, and how to make people aware of such products and how they can lead to creation of industry and jobs. A startup bootcamp is further scheduled to be held on 14th September 2022.

Karam Parav at MSCBU

 



On the auspicious occasion of the Karam Parav, one of the major ritual-festival of Eastern India, the faculty members and students of the Department of Anthropology and Tribal Studies, planted a Karam tree in front of the Centre for Tribal Studies. "Karam parav"  is a spiritual and social festival. the tribal people celebrate this festival as  thanks   giving to their diety "Karam Gosain". The Karam Gosain, the god of good harvest and fertility will ensure prosperity and fertility. So on this auspicious day of Karam, Karam tree is worshiped which is regarded as most sacred, auspicious and symbol of fertility and prosperity for tribal communities of eastern India.
