Celebration of 25th Foundation Day

 




The 25th founding day of Maharaja Sri Ramchandra Bhanjadeo University was celebrated on July 13, 2022 in a grand ceremony at the University Conference Annex. Hall. It was officiated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Kishor Kumar Basa and Former Vice Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Prof. Prakash Chandra Shadangi was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Shadhangi in his address, described Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo as a philosophical king and pointed out his important role in the construction of modern Odisha. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the faculty, students and non-teaching staff on the 25th foundation day of the University. He said that today's youth will play an active role in the reconstruction of 21st century India. He opined that while the uniqueness of the individual must be given importance, what is more important is how it can contribute to the collective growth of the whole without diminishing the uniqueness of the others. Vice Chancellor Prof. Basa expressed that University is putting whole hearted effort to make it a leading institution of the state. He asked for cooperation from all the stakeholders for the events to be held in the silver jubilee year of the University. He glorified the achievements in the past year in hosting the first inter-university games & sports competition, DAE-BARC-BRNC Outreach Theme meeting, first Annual Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo Lecture etc.

In the foundation day, the University awarded the "Bhoomi Gaurav" samman to Mr. Girish Chandra Murmu, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India who is from Mayurbhanj District and Dr. Banalta Mohanty, Professor & Head of Department of Zoology at Allahabad University who is from Keonjhar district. The University felicitated Prof. Anil Kumar Biswal, who retired from the University's Department of Botany on March 31, 2022, and Mr. Gyanendra Kumar Sethi, Deputy Registrar who retired on 30-09-2022. Among the non-teaching staff of the University, Mr. Pradeep Baral, Senior Stenographer from Class III (Group-C) category and Mr. Ramchandra Mukhi, Wachman-cum-Sweeper from Class IV (Group-D) category were honoured as the best employees for the year 2022. Mr. Hemananda Behera, student from Department of Zoology, was awarded the Kumudini Memorial Award for his highest marks in the PG examination in 2021 and Keshab Chandra Mahanta of BB College, Harichandanpur, Keonjhar was awarded the Best History Graduate in 2021. For NSS, Dr. Priyabrata Behera of MPC Auto College was awarded as the best programme officer and  Satyabhama Das of MSCB University, Deepshikha Bindhani of Baripada College, Gulsan Khatua of Karanjia Auto College and Adarsh Kumar Rout of MPC Auto College were awarded as the best volunteers. Baripada College was awarded as the best women wing and MPC Auto College as the best male wing. Later, The University felicitated Mrs. Gita Mishra, Former General Manager, State Bank of India, and Mrs. Tilottama Basa, Former Managing Director, Odisha Mining Corporation.

At the beginning of the event, students sang the University Anthem. Prof. Pramod Kumar Satapathy, Chairman, PG Council introduced the guests and gave a welcome address. The Registrar Mr. Sahadev Samadhia, read out the annual report and briefed about the various development projects in 2021-22. Comptroller of the Mr. Shukadev Tarei gave the vote of thanks. The meeting ended with singing of Vande Utkal Janani.

Earlier in the morning, the newly constructed garden surrounding the statue of the Maharaja was inagurated by the Chief Guest followed by garlanding of the statue of the Maharaja.
