National Sports
Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at MSCB
University on 29th August 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major
Dhyan Chand, one of
India’s greatest sporting legends. The event was organized under the able guidance of the
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B. B. Mishra. The main
function was held at the 200 seated Annex
Hall, with participation of students, faculty members, and staff. The programme was presided over by Prof. K. L. Barik, Chairman, PG Council, MSCB
University. The event began with a tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, followed
by a pledge ceremony conducted by Vice
President of PG Athletic Club Prof. Biswajit Rath, in which students and
staff pledged their commitment to uphold the values of sportsmanship and
physical fitness. In his address, Prof.
K. L. Barik highlighted the legendary
accomplishments of Major Dhyan Chand in the field of hockey,
underscoring his role in elevating India's status in international sports. He
encouraged students to engage in sports
regularly to maintain physical fitness, enhance mental well-being, and
develop qualities such as discipline and teamwork.
Following the formal session, a friendly cricket match
was organized among students to promote active participation in sports. The
match was held under the motivational tagline: “#Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein”,
encouraging everyone to dedicate at least one hour daily to physical activity.
The entire programme was efficiently
coordinated by Dr. Suvendu Kumar Satapathy, Asst. Professor, Department of
Social Work, Mr. P. R. Das, Physical Education Teacher (PET) and Mr.
Girishchandra Parimanik, gym instructor of the University.
