The East Zone Inter-University Volleyball (Men) Tournament at MSCB University was inagurated at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada. In this mega event to be held from will be held from 19-11-2024 to 23-11-2024, about 900 players and match officials from 64 universities of eastern India are participating. Thirteen universities from Odisha, 10 from Chhattisgarh, 9 from West Bengal, 10 from Bihar, 6 from Uttar Pradesh, 7 from Jharkhand, 2 from Manipur, 3 from Assam, 2 from Tripura, one from Mizoram and one from Sikkim are participating in it.
Under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy, the event was inagurated by the Ombudsman of the University and Former Vice Chancellor of FM University Prof. Madhumita Das. Chairman PG Council Prof. Hemant Kumar Sahu presided over the event. Registrar Mr. Sahadev Samadhia gave the welcome address. Chief Guest, Prof. Das in her address congratulated all the players and sports officials who participated from East Zone for contributing to this sporting greatness and called the players present as the future of India. She opined that it is not important to win or lose the competition but participation is important and emphasized that these competitions will help in achieving the goals of Viksit Odisha by 2036 and Vikshit Bharat by 2047. Director of Sports Council Prof. Pravanjan Mallick gave the vote of thanks. Students of the University participated in the Cultural programme held in the evening. The inaugural was coordinated by Dr. Cuckoo Mahapatra and the parade was coordianated by P.E.T. Teacher of MPC Autonomous College Mr. Satyanarayan Barik.
In the matches played today, in Pool A, Binoba bhave University defeated Atal Bihar Vajpayee University, Centurion University defeated Hemchand Yadav University, and Vardhman University defeated Deen Dayal Upadhyay University. In Pool B, Magadh University defeated OUAT, Santh Gahira Guru University defeated AISECT University Hazaribag, BBM Koyailanchan University defeated Sri Sri University. In Pool C, FM University got walk over Maa Manikeswari University, Jana Nayak Chandrasekhar University defeated Saheed Nand Kumar Patel University. In Pool D, Ranchi Univesity got walk-over against Dibrugarh University, West bengal state university University defeated Veer Kunwar Singh University, Patna University got walk-over against L N Mithila University.
